You may have heard of white space, or sometimes referred to as 'negative space'. So why do we say it often and why is it essential in the design process?

White space refers to the clear space left around certain design elements. It allows for design elements to be balanced and better organised, which helps improve the visual communication experience. It is important not to think of this as 'wasted space' as it can be purposely used to highlight key messages and other design elements.
